Description

If you’re looking for a truly unique hike where the ocean stays by your side the whole way, you’ll explore a hidden cave, descend rocky sections, and finish with a refreshing swim in a secret waterfall or natural pool, then this South Coast hiking tour is exactly for you. It’s not only beautiful, but exciting as well, just enough adventure to leave you pleasantly tired and full of memories by the end of the day.

Starting point: Gris Gris Beach – the edge of the island

The tour begins at the famous Gris Gris Beach parking area, where you can admire the wild, wind-swept coastline facing the open ocean. If weather and sea conditions allow, you’ll make a short detour to a hidden cave tucked directly beneath the cliffs – a real secret spot that only few visitors know about.

The trail: coastal path to the natural pool

From here the real adventure begins. Following a rugged, twisting path along the rocky shoreline, you’ll hike through dramatic scenery. The steepest section involves holding onto a rope to descend, followed by a short ladder climb down a rock face. Your guide assists you throughout, and while it looks adventurous, it’s not difficult.

The nature around you is breathtaking: ocean panoramas, dramatic cliffs, blooming tropical plants and the constant sound of crashing waves accompany your every step.

Destination: Natural Pool and Mamzelle Waterfall – swimming in nature’s heart

At the end of the trail you arrive at a spot few tourists ever reach. The Natural Pool is a naturally formed rock basin shaped by waves and volcanic formations. You can swim, relax on the warm rocks or simply enjoy the peaceful atmosphere.

Just a few metres away is another gem: the Mamzelle Waterfall, flowing directly into the ocean. It’s a perfect place to splash, cool off and enjoy something truly special, especially if you’re hiking with kids.

Who do we recommend the South Coast hike for?

This tour is suitable from around ages 7–8 with a guide and parental supervision.
The rope descent and ladder are the most challenging parts, but most children handle them easily, especially knowing there’s swimming at the end.

The tour is ideal for nature lovers who want to explore a wild, lesser-known coastline far from the crowds, where the landscape feels untouched and authentic.
